About me

Hi my name is Stewart Calladine, I am currently undergoing my final major project of my Ba in Graphic Design. Not only am I soon to complete my Graphic Design studies I am a Fine Art graduate from City of Birmingham University formally know as University of Central England. The field of design that I one day hope to get into to is the world of publication and editorial design. I have a strong interest for design for print and through my Fine Art studies and Graphic Design studies I feel I have a varied knowledge of art and design history. This I believe can help me going forward in the design. I have worked on a number of freelance art and design projects as well having my own fine art practice in which I specialised in abstract painting. Another interest of mine is photography and I have had a number of images exhibited in galleries. Recently I have also fallen into the world of gaming graphics and have graphics used for three iOS games on the market.

Final Outcome of Final Major Project

These are my final outcomes of my final project based around science. The project was for a celebratory hamper and product range to honour the long history and brand that is Fortnum and Mason. The designs that I created have been inspired by scientists and also the multiverse theory. I have used tessellating shapes and patterns to form my packaging and have carried this them across the other design items. Much of my work has been influenced by Bauhaus and Modernist design.

British Music Experience project

This is one of my favourite pieces of work that I have created during my time studying with IDI. The reason I have chose this image is that it challenged my digital illustration skills. I knew that I could draw and sketch with traditional mediums, however with this work I created the image in Illustrator then took into Photoshop to create the effects. I learnt a great deal in Illustrator in this project.

Dream Lady

I consider this as one of my strongest pieces for IDI that I submitted, it was for an editorial design project which was based on dreams. I went about the project by looking at darker and lighter dreams. I wanted my work to be subjective and didn't want to tell the viewer what to think. Since completing this project I have revisited this image and reworked it. I produced this image with a starting image of a female nude, then only used Photoshop to create the final outcome.
